Dr. Nita George is a Sr. Consultant Intensivist & Anaesthesiologist and leads the critical care team at VPS Lakeshore. The critical care department supports patients from all departments who are critically ill including post-surgical, medical, liver and renal transplant, trauma, cardiology, neurology, nephrology and oncology.

Her areas of interest are hemodynamic monitoring, postsurgical patients, perioperative care of transplant recipients, sepsis, trauma and difficult airway management.

She is also a member of the Infection Control Committee, Trauma Care Services and the Transplant program at VPS Lakeshore. She also manages resuscitation services in the Accident and Emergency Department.

She is a teacher and guide for DNB Anaesthesia students and a teacher for Critical Care students doing IDCCM and the post MBBS Course.

She also is involved in providing anaesthesia for paediatrics, obstetrics and all other specialties including multi-organ transplant and organ donor management and retrieval.

She is an executive committee member of ISCCM from the year 2013. She has been involved in organizing CME’s and workshops in Critical Care and has been an invited faculty at state and national level meetings in Critical Care and Anaesthesia. She has several publications in international journals.

She is a life member of the Indian Medical Association, Indian Society of Critical Care Medicine, European Society of Critical Care Medicine, Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Royal College of Anaesthetists and is registered with the General Medical Council, UK.

Other Information

Dr. Nita George, a state rank holder in secondary and higher secondary school, graduated MBBS in 1986 and completed M.D Anaesthesia in 1992 from Goa Medical College, Goa, India. Thereafter she worked in Oman where she was given the best doctor award for exemplary services in 1998. She has worked in the U.K for 9 years where she did her FRCA in Anaesthesia and completed advanced training in Intensive care medicine certified by the Intercollegiate Board for Training in ICM (IBTICM). She has also done advanced training in difficult airways. She has done EDIC (European Diploma in Intensive Care) and obtained CCT (Certificate of completion of specialist training) in Anaesthesia. She has worked as a consultant in U.K before returning back to India.

She is an all-rounder with a keen interest in sports and plays the piano.
